By road... From the North
Take the highway from Basel (A2) or Zürich (A1) or Geneva (A1) to Bern. Then follow the A6 highway to Thun and Spiez. Follow the main road to Kandersteg, about 24km. The route to the gondola lift is well signposted in the village. It takes about 2 hours to drive from Basel and Zürich and 1 hour from Bern.
From the South Cross the Simplon Pass and the car train will take you from Goppenstein to Kandersteg. The route to the gondola lift from the car train station is well signposted. There is a large, free car-park at the bottom of the lift. However, cars which will be left overnight should be registered at the ticket office. The road to the Oeschinen Lake is private and driving is not allowed. Violators will be fined.
A quick thought – Kandersteg has excellent train connections through the BLS; why not consider the environment and travel on public transport? http://www.sbb.ch
